Saving Yourself: The Medicine is you.

Updated: Jul 3

You know that saying, “No one is coming to save you”?

I don’t know why, but as women, so many of us were taught that we needed saving. Softly, I remind myself that there is great power and acceptance in deciding once and for all that I can “save” myself. It may sound like a simple catchphrase, but it hits so much deeper than that.

Embracing Self-Acceptance

I’m not talking about companionship, help, or assistance. I’m talking about accepting yourself fully—the deep knowing that there is great power in you, all by yourself. And when you finally let go… magic happens. It might start small, but trust me, it’s real.

I’m also talking about leaning into your hardships and challenges instead of waiting for them to disappear. When I get afraid (which is often) or feel lonely (which is also often), I hug myself and gently say, “It’s okay. You got this.” With that one simple phrase, I find the courage and strength to move forward—one breath and one movement at a time.
