“A Gentle Look at What I’m Doing to Support My Body”

Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on what actually helps me while living with idiopathic cerebellar ataxia. After a lot of testing, doctors confirmed that this is the type of ataxia I have — it’s not one of the genetic types like Friedreich’s ataxia, which is why it’s called idiopathic (meaning the exact cause is still unknown).
Because of this, I’ve been taking a more active role in figuring out what supports my body. I’ve slowly added a few things that seem to make a gentle difference for me. None of these are cures, but they’ve become part of a routine that helps me feel a little more supported.
I’ve been using red light therapy regularly. I use a red light panel
most days, and I’ve also started using a small intranasal red light device at bedtime. It fits gently inside my nose and has become a simple part of my evening wind-down. Both feel calming and non-invasive, which is important to me.
I also use my vibration board a few times a week. It’s low-impact and helps with circulation. More than anything, it helps me feel more connected to my body, even on days when my energy or balance is lower.
